How to read this puzzle

A familiar belt is a useful starting point here: several properties match, but its machines and ingredients only overlap. The important move is to separate the properties that stay the same from the ones that change between belt tiers.

Start this worked example with Express Transport Belt. The six signals below show what that guess tells you about the answer.

From the clues to the answer

1. Keep the exact properties

   Express Transport Belt gives exact matches for Logistics, a 0.5-second craft time, and a stack of 100. Those clues support looking at other belts, but they do not identify a tier on their own. The recipe has three input types, and the feedback says the answer has the same count.

2. An overlapping machine set is not an exact set

   The guess can be made in an Assembler or Foundry. Related means the answer shares at least one of those machine families, but its full set differs. Turbo Transport Belt is made in a Foundry only, so it fits that partial match. The different recipe-unlock clue also rules out Nauvis.

3. Follow the upgrade recipe

   Lubricant is the only shared direct ingredient, with an exact amount of 20. Iron Gear Wheel and Fast Transport Belt are absent from the answer’s direct recipe. Turbo Transport Belt instead uses five Tungsten Plates and one Express Transport Belt, alongside the lubricant. An ingredient used to make an earlier belt does not automatically appear in the next belt’s recipe.
